Kim Building

The Orthopaedic Mechanobiology Laboratory (OrthoMechLab), established in June of 2005, is located in the Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building at the University of Maryland, College Park.  We are part of the Fischell Department of Bioengineering in the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, and are affiliated with the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore as well as the Department of Mechanical Engineering at College Park.

The main research thrust of the Orthopaedic Mechanobiology Lab is to elucidate the role of mechanical stress in modulating biological response of musculoskeletal tissues, with a particular focus on the intervertebral discs of the spine. Additional details on specific research areas are described in the research section of this website.
