Assistant, Associate or Full Professor
The Fischell Department of Bioengineering is seeking a highly talented individual in the field of bioengineering for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position.
The Department is a 3-year old highly progressive unit catalyzed by a transformational gift of $31 million from Robert E. Fischell and family. At the interface of engineering and life sciences, our Department seeks to build quantitative systems approaches that will define the multi-scale underpinnings of healthcare engineering for the next generation. The Department has over 70 graduate faculty mentors in cross-disciplinary areas of bioengineering including many colleges within UM College Park and at neighboring institutions (FDA, UMB, UMBI, NIH). The undergraduate program is highly sought after by the most talented high school students in Maryland and elsewhere. Our current positions are focused on systems biology, genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology – or those who may be interested in guiding genome information into approaches and/or devices to improve human health.
Located in the greater Washington DC area, the Department has access to vast research resources and facilities in the immediate vicinity, including those of the NIH, FDA, DOD, USDA, EPA, and NASA as well as over 600 Maryland biotech companies.
Qualifications: Open to all areas in bioengineering. Candidate must have Ph.D. in biomedical or biological, or closely related engineering field. Candidates with excellent communication skills, strong track records of research excellence, and commitment to bioengineering education will be considered.
To apply, please visit: apra.umd.edu/search.jsp?ID=BIOE000019
Applications received prior to December 1, 2009 will receive earliest consideration.
